Company Description

We are proudly representing our public sector client based in Darlington for their search for a Marketing and Communications Officer. They now have an immediate requirement to recruit for a temporary assignment to start as soon as possible until March 2020.

Job Specification

The Role

  • To implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to ensure that sustainable Transport and Economic Growth key messages reach their target audience including, local people, schools, businesses and other organisations
  • Develop and Deliver sustainable travel marketing for the Council, other LAs and other bodies achieve modal shift and reduce impact of development in terms of traffic growth
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of the marketing communications strategy
  • To provide a media relations service in relation to the Let’s Go Tees Valley Project dealing with media enquiries, writing news releases, organising media briefings and photo-calls
  • Delivery of activities arising from Sustainable Transport SPD/S106 and other income
  • Development and management of statutory transport information and marketing websites/social media including Let’s Go Tees Valley and Connect Tees Valley
  • Marketing campaigns including supporting the Connect Tees Valley and public transport projects
  • Support Development of Economic growth/development site marketing information
  • Support Development of Economic growth marketing and publicity strategy
  • To develop and implement innovative ideas for providing information to employees, partners, schools and the public to increase the number of people choosing sustainable forms of travel
  • To maintain and improve awareness of the Sustainable Transport and Let’s Go Tees Valley brand to ensure it is communicated positively at a local, regional and national level
  • To maintain an awareness of other regional and national projects that are complimentary to the Let’s Go Tees Valley work with other agencies and stakeholders where appropriate

  • Any other duties of a similar nature related to this post or that of the team that may be required from time-to-time

The Person

  • A graduate or professional qualification relevant to the post
  • Approximately three years’ experience in marketing communications
  • Experience of undertaking project work including associated risk and budget management
  • Experience of dealing confidently with media enquiries and preparing press releases and briefings
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainable transport
  • Knowledge of e-marketing communications, design, print and photography(such as constant contact)
  • Understanding of local government systems and structures
  • Experience of implementing social media campaigns
  • Experience of developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing policies and procedures
